Mistral unveils 1-trillion-parameter Mistral Large 4, open weights due by month-end
Mistral released Mistral Large 4, nicknamed ‘Le Chonk’: a natively multimodal (text and image input) MoE model with 1 trillion total and 49 billion active parameters, trained on about 3,800 NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GPUs in Mistral’s European data centers (the company told TechCrunch that is two to three times less compute than Chinese rivals). It touts coding and security results such as 61.7% on DeepSWE v1.1 and 93% on Cybench. For now it is available only through a public preview API in Mistral Studio ($1.36 per million input tokens, $4.18 per million output tokens), with weights to be released at the end of October after safety testing. Mistral pitches it as a ‘third way’ between closed US models and open Chinese ones.

Anthropic folds Glasswing into a three-tier Cyber Verification Program after finding 129,000 vulnerabilities in six months
Anthropic restructured its Cyber Verification Program, which gives vetted security professionals access to models with relaxed safety restrictions, into Defense, Red Team and Specialized tiers. Defense Access covers malware analysis, vulnerability research and incident response and is typically approved within days; Red Team Access permits authorized penetration testing but takes weeks to review; Specialized Access, for organizations testing critical infrastructure such as power grids and flight systems, is run in collaboration with the US government. From April to October, Project Glasswing partners and Anthropic’s own scanning verified at least 129,000 vulnerabilities (over 33,000 critical or high severity), and every tier can use Claude Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 and Mythos 5.1.

Anthropic gives startups a free year of Claude Team and $1,000 in API credits
At SF Tech Week, Anthropic expanded its Claude for Startups program. Startups founded within the last five years or funded within the last two get one year of Claude Team free (up to five premium seats), $1,000 in API credits, access to build plugins for Claude Marketplace, and office hours with the Applied AI team. CNBC reports that partner perks bring the total package to roughly $45,000. Anthropic said the benefits of AI will reach most people through the companies that build on top of models rather than through the models alone.

Meta and Sierra publish Personal Agent Protocol, an open standard for AI agents doing business
Sierra and Meta unveiled the Personal Agent Protocol (PAP), an open standard that lets AI agents authenticate with businesses and settle on access levels. Built on OAuth, it lets an agent start as a guest and gain read-only or write permissions after login, with sessions persisting across a company’s website, APIs (MCP/OpenAPI) and its own agent channel. Partners include Shopify, Stripe, Walmart and Genesys, and the v0.1 spec ships later in October. Payments, push notifications and fine-grained permissions are deferred to extensions; the effort competes with Visa’s Trusted Agent Protocol, and no European retailers or banks have joined yet.

Neocloud Lambda raising up to $4B at a $14.5B valuation ahead of its IPO
Nvidia-backed GPU cloud Lambda is raising up to $4 billion at a $14.5 billion pre-money valuation ahead of a planned 2027 IPO, the WSJ reported, with Coatue and Blackstone leading. Its backlog jumped from $15 billion in June to $50 billion in September, about $35 billion of it from a single customer, Anthropic, which signed in late August. Lambda also recently closed $1 billion in debt to buy chips, as the neocloud IPO wave continues after CoreWeave and Nebius, with Nscale having filed for a US listing.

Google signs 3.6 GW power deal with Constellation, including 890 MW from uprating 11 reactors
Google signed a 3,590 MW power purchase agreement with Constellation Energy. About 25% of it, 890 MW, will come from uprates to 11 existing reactors in Illinois, Pennsylvania and New Jersey under a 20-year contract, with the remaining 2,700 MW supplied from PJM grid capacity. Constellation will invest more than $4.3 billion, and the first uprated plant is expected online in 2028. The deal shows hyperscalers squeezing more out of existing nuclear plants rather than waiting for new reactors to power AI data centers.

OpenAI expands Atlassian partnership, bringing Jira and Confluence into ChatGPT and Codex
OpenAI and Atlassian broadened their partnership to put GPT-6 family models into Atlassian’s platform and its Rovo agents. Rovo uses Atlassian’s Teamwork Graph, which links people, projects, documents and decisions, as context, while ChatGPT and Codex users can reach Jira work items and Confluence pages through plugins. More than 3,000 Atlassian developers already use Codex, and the companies plan to let teams assign Jira work to AI agents and track progress. The same day, OpenAI published research with contracting platform Ironclad showing GPT-6 Astra scoring 32% higher and working 48% faster than its predecessor across 11 contracting tasks.

SAP to acquire Belgian AI work-intelligence platform TechWolf
SAP agreed to acquire TechWolf of Ghent, Belgium (terms undisclosed, closing expected in Q4). TechWolf connects to HR and business systems to continuously map the tasks within jobs, employee skills and external labor-market data into a ‘context graph for work.’ SAP will make it a core part of SuccessFactors to make its Joule assistant smarter in HR scenarios such as skills-based hiring, workforce planning and role redesign, and will keep offering it to non-SAP customers.
